The BABBLERS invite you to participate in The WEST COAST BOXSTERFEST!!!

When: Friday March 30, 2001 - Sunday, April 1, 2001 (this is no April Fool's day joke)

Where: The beautiful Central Coast of California (San Simeon, CA area)

Preliminary Plans:

Friday - Caravan Boxster drives from all over the Western US and arrive Friday for a group dinner and socializing.

Saturday - group breakfast. Two groups will go to:

1. The incredible Hearst Castle - we will reserve two tours of the one and only Hearst Castle. Each tour is 1:45 minutes long and costs only $9.

2. Local Winery Tour - depending on how many people want to do this (based on the SoCal contingent's affinity for wine it could be a very popular event), this will be planned (Kurt, want to volunteer?) in greater detail.

Afternoon drive in and around the magnificent coast and hills of the Central Coast area in the springtime. Hearst Castle was built there because of it's majestic beauty.

Group dinner at a fantastic eatery. We expect to have a great time socializing and we expect to have a great raffle with some cool prizes!

Sunday - group breakfast and another local drive. Another option is to scout out the local shops and tourist attractions.

Afternoon - depart for home :(

Lodging: I'm working now to get a block of hotel rooms set aside at a nice hotel in Cambria (about 6 miles from Hearst Castle). Once I get that done (tomorrow perhaps), we'll need to move quickly and make our own individual reservations. I will provide more details so you know where to call and what the rates will be. The hotels in that area require a two-night stay. And the rates seem to be in the $120 - $150/night range.

Other than lodging, we're looking at a few meals, the Hearst Castle tours and gas. We are working to keep the cost down but that area is very popular so we are limited.

We will need to move fairly quickly on this. Once I get the rooms set aside you'll have to make the call to the hotel and reserve your room. I do expect to handle the Hearst Castle Tour reservations and once they're made, there won't be any refunds. It will be cool because we'll be touring an amazing place as a group (or two or three depending on how many people go).

I have spoken to Billster (Bill Snider) at Ciao! Travel and we agree that this event should not impact TBHL4 which will take place about 5 weeks later in Las Vegas. And special thanks go to Randy Russell who has given us permission to make this an official "Boxsterfest" event! (Randy owns the name)

And lastly, I'd like some volunteers to help with the details to pull this together. The BABBLERS will handle a lot of it but I've asked Richard Ian to lend a hand with the SoCal contingent. We'll need people to go to their local dealer and ask for merchandise (dealers have 2001 catalogs - they're giving them away now) like hats, key rings, jackets, etc. And we'd like folks to help get the message out to everyone. e-mail me if you can donate some time to help.

I'm confident we can pull this together and make this WESTCOAST BOXSTERFEST a fantastic event but only if YOU join us!
