View Full Version : Now that you've seen the 987, will you get one?
Now that everybody has had a chance to see pictures of the 987 what's the likelihood of buying one?

I still like my existing Boxster too much to trade it in.

Please excuse a 911 guy. I understand, 986 Boxster to 987 Boxster.

If you're talking about the last option in the poll, yes. With tongue firmly planted in cheek ;)

I thought 987 looks terrible on spy pic, but it already grew on me by the time I saw the official one. Other than the cheap looking air intake, it looks must-upgrade to me.
Though I would love to move up from my 2.7l '00 to an "S" with a glass rear window (oh, I fell in love with that '03 "S" loaner car I had at last year's BBQ), mainly due to financial reasons I don't expect to trade-in on something newer for a couple of years. So, I voted "keeping my classic 986".... the changes to the 987 are not enough for me to run out and trade-in any sooner. It looks nice - better than the 986 - but the mods are too subtle and still lack the "wow" of the original 986 show car.

Still in love with my 2002 "S".

I love the new look. The side intakes are goofy and the interior is iffy (it looks higher quality but not as clean). But the headlights fix what is just gawd-awful ugly about the 986 and 996. It's a huge improvment. The tail lights are also better but not as significantly so. The extra room under the fenders would also be welcome since I gave up some with my coilovers and can't fit 275's back there.
Also, the additional power would be a welcome change. I just went from MY00 to MY03 and I just found confirmation of my butt dyno results that even 8bhp makes a big diff. I just had an opportunity to drive my favorite mountain road unblocked for the first time in the new car. There is a steep uphill section where I just redlined 2nd and had ample time to wait prior to slowing for the next turn. In my MY00, I always accelerated all the way to the braking point w/o ever hitting the rev limiter. Got 22bhp more, heck yeah! Gimme it! :)
