Only 2 Boxster related threads since the new site opened on Monday. I know it took a while for people to get signed up and look over the new board, but someone's gotta have something to say right?

You're right Scott? How is the new car? Still waiting patiently for some pics! HAHA. I am installing H&R springs on my car next week and also getting a more aggressive alignment. How much negative did you get with the pss9s?
I am hoping to get about 1.5 neg in front and 2-2.5 neg in the rear. We sill have to wait and see how it goes. Then I will finally mount up my Dunlop "R" tires and run in improved next season.
You have seen the website that you can now run 245s on the front haven't you?

I got -1.8° in front and had a hard time keeping the rear down to -2.8°. Once I get to track it or ax it, I might find that I need to raise it a bit more in order decrease the rear camber. It's a balancing act between roll axis height and camber and I might actually be cornering with negative camber where the opposite is normally true. We'll see soon enough.
Yeah, I saw the update but actually, the N class allowed 245's already. It's just hard to find a good 18" r compound in 245. I think the MPSC's will eventually make a 235 since that's the size OEM of the GT3. Hoosier makes some (245) now, but I don't have a trailer. I might buy a set of 17"s and run 245/275 Kumhos. We'll see.

I hope it doesn't run too many people off. This format is exactly why I could never get into rennlist. I hate that board. So far, this babbler edition seems more user friendly than rennlist but less user friendly than ppbb.
In my opinion,
Pros:
Signatures
Avatars
Profiles
private messaging and discrete emails
member lists (we lost that on the old site)
organization
appearance
Cons:
Can't see global view (no way to override)
Low traffic site became lower because it became less conducive to quick glances

Not sure what you mean by the first point - unless it's that you can't see ALL of the posts.
As far as the 2nd point goes the 'current' threads are on the front page (at least the top 'n' are :)) and may be accessed by clicking directly on the post or by clicking on one of the "New Posts" links. The latter will bring up a complete list of all threads with new posts in them.

Yeah, that's what I meant. The old site allowed us to see all threads and all posts under all those threads with one quick page load. Bam, it was all there. Now, we can tell that a particular board has a new reply to a particular post. But note that you can't see the subject line for that reply from the top view without going into the board and clicking on the parent thread or just blindly clicking on the "last post in thread button". I just found that one. My personal preference is to be able to load one page and just by glancing, read all the subj lines to see if anything grabs my interest. Then, on reloads, just look for a big NEW throughout the day, while still being able to read subject lines without navigating down into a thread.
I did list quite a few pros to only 2 cons though. Overall, I think the site is nice. But I hope that traffic picks up after people get their feet wet.

I do appreciate the feedback.
What mode are you using to view posts? Linear? Hybrid? Threaded?
I find that Hybrid is actually the best combination as it allows navigation within the thread while still showing 10 posts.
I'm also considering a fully exploded modification that would show threads in an expanded state - though that would come after the full release is done (it's a Gamma release now) and after I learn the system a little more. And heck, by then everyone will be use to it the way it is now ;)
As far as traffic goes, that's not the problem. Just take a look at the view counts. The problem is we have a bunch of wall flowers . We've got nearly 60 registered users and only a handful of them are actually posting anything.

It took me 5 or 6 visits to figure out where is the "main event" I am used to. Perhaps a front page quick link to this forum?

and there is a whole new section just for Dan Misc Ramblings! :p
Don't worry about me Clayton, you should worry about everyone else and where they're at - from the looks of things, this place is on life support.
It clearly wasn't the best time to switch to a new and very unfamiliar board format. I'm on a lot of boards and this one is not one of the better ones... :o

As I stated earlier, Dan. The problem isn't the number of visitors. It's the number of posters. We have over 80 registered users and only 1/3 or so have posted anything. That said, the Babblers board has ALWAYS been a low traffic site as far as posting goes. Add a new format and traffic will naturally die down a bit while people become acclimated to the newer format and learn their way around.
Based on 2 1/2 years of access logs, December has always been our slowest month. This might lead one to believe that it's actually the best time to make a significant change as it will have the least amount of impact ;)
As always, constructive criticism is welcome.
Hey everyone.
Been hard at work eh Tom? ;->
Any other Babbler diaspora up here?
Going through total culture shock. If Californians drive like the fate of the world depended on arriving at their destination 30 seconds sooner, Washingtonians drive as if they had it drilled into them that the speed of light is 62MPH.
You can actually see them in the fast lane of the freeway when they approach 58mph, they get nervous and start looking around for those audiovisual clues that the space-time continuum is starting to close in on them.
I've not yet taken to passing on the sholders at 70mph but consider it inevitable....

I feel about like everyone else - it's new and I need to get used to the newness.
I could use some help on "avatars" (and who names these things anyway?).
I think they need to be 66x66? My photo album thumbnails are larger (slightly) than that. How can I chop something into "avatar" size?
One thing I am sure of: Tom puts a whole lot of blood swear and tears into this site. Thanks for all your work Tom!
