View Full Version : rock chip advice
Hey Babblers
One or two of you saw my huge rock chips on my brand new baby and the near sand blasting on the botton right .. fender? cowling? whatever you want to call that.
I want to get these fixed up and know of two options. One is to have the chips professionally fixed. The other is to get touch-up paint and Ungo. Assuming price is no object, what option will yield the best quality results?
Thanks

hi Ed - hope you had fun yesterday. Did you like Stage Road (driving it "backwards")?
Langka is a product that has been used with success by Boxster Boarders. Tom Morris has purchased it but hasn't yet used it. It's supposed to be good. You can wait a bit and see how he does with it and we're going to have a "BABBLERS Car Care Day" on Saturday May 5th with the Meguiars rep and we're planning on doing a Langka session then too (Andrew is working on that).
In the meantime you might want to consider getting a bra. I'm working with Colgan to get them to make their new style bra for the S. I'll let you know. I usually put my bra on the car (and mirror bras) when I do our drives and didn't yesterday because my S was dirty. I'm sure I picked up a few more.
One more thing - you can always (later) do what others have done - get a new nose - GT3 or 996 or another Boxster S nose. In time and with plenty of chips that might be the ultimate solution. But it's a good idea to protect that front end with a bra or one of the clear adhesive products like Ston-gard or the others...
Thanks Dan
Yeah, the whole trip was a lot of fun. Its hard to get that kart driving out of your system . Last night I noticed a HUGE 8 inch red and blue bruise on the left side of my right knee. Anyone else get that? I don't remember hitting it but its gotta be from somewhere on the kart.
I considered the bra and the x-pel sort of deal. Both would be some help but most of the chipping I have is way up on the hood. I mean I have a couple of big old grand canyon gouges. It really shows on my Lapis Blue. I would love to join the car care thing but I'll be out of the country then. Bummer. I'll take a look at the hand crafted Lankga repairs at the first chance I get.
regards
